March 15, 2010Dear Potential Sponsor,
The Greater San Marcos Youth Council (GSMYC) invites you to become a sponsor for our first annual “A Night of Hope” to benefit the children in our shelter. This exciting event will be held May 1, 2010 at Three Dudes Winery from 6:00-9:00 pm. It is a fundraising event that will include a silent auction, food from local restaurants, and live music. The primary source of funding for “A Night of Hope” is from corporate sponsors, such as you. “A Night of Hope” receives no governmental funds.
As you may be aware, the Children’s Shelter has provided a safe place for abused and neglected children to live since 1986. Often, the children come in only with the clothes on their backs. The shelter provides basic needs services, as well as counseling, life and social skills training and recreational activities for the youth during their stay at the shelter. For many children it is the first time in their life where they can learn to trust adults and be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. The funds provided by this event will be used to provide food, clothing, and activities for the children who are living at the shelter. It will help them to learn that it does not have to hurt to be a child, and that there are people in the community who care about them and want them to know that they matter.
